More than 50, 000 people gathered in central Donetsk to pay last respect to the Donetsk Republic Hero, colonel Arsen Pavlov best known under his call sign Motorola, who was killed on October 16.
The farewell ceremony started at around 10 a.m. local time in the premises of Donetsk State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the coffin placed in the hall. The head of republic Alexander Zakharchenko and acting Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova paid their last tribute before the ceremony.
Police closed traffic on the city central Artyom street to allow the queue of people to say farewell to Pavlov (Motorola).
The funeral procession in memory of the Arsen Pavlov has stretched out for several kilometers. The correspondents estimate around 50 thousand people gathered to pay last tribute to the hero filling the central square and adjoining streets.
The coffin was moved from Donbass Opera premises as public chanted “May the Hero memory last forever”, and carried along the central Artem street with orchestra playing.
The column was headed by the fighters of the DPR Armed forces with Pavlov’s portrait, his awards and an orthodox cross in their hands. They were followed by a truck, the coffin with a body was placed on a gun carriage.
The ceremony shocked Ukrainian nationalists. They thought Pavlov Motorola was an ordinary criminal, but public opinion in Donetsk radically differs from their wrong picture formed by Ukrainian nationalist propaganda.

Ukrainian armed forces have broken the latest ceasefire-within-a-ceasefire in Donbass with shelling of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, reports the DPR envoy to the Minsk-2 ceasefire process, Denis Pushilin.

“We are forced to report a drastic deterioration of the situation in the south of the DPR. Despite the agreements signed in Minsk and the recent decisions on disengagement of forces and weapons withdrawal, the Ukrainian side renewed today its provocations towards DPR,” he said.

Last week of May was marked with rapid military deterioration in Donbas.
On May 26 the Ukrainian troops had launched 56 mortar shells at the outskirts of Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk, Yasinovataya and Sahanka.
They shelled a town of Dokuchaevsk with heavy mortars, which resulted in a house and a motor company damaged. The shelling was carried out with 120mm mortars, the regional media said. Later, it was also found out that the shelling from positions of the Ukrainian military had damaged a pipeline in Dokuchaevsk.
In addition, a civilian girl born in 1991 got a shrapnel wound to the lower leg.
The same day Ukrainian militaries shelled village Zaytsevo near Gorlovka. A residential private house was burned as a result of the shelling.
Serious military clash has broken out 12 a.m. near Avdeyevka. According to the Defense Ministry of Donetsk republic, the enemy was shelling from its positions in the area of Avdeyevka, the locality of Zhovanka and the ventilation shaft of the Makeyevka mine “Butovskaya”. The Ukrainian military tried to bypass the DPR positions around the Yasinovataya check-point from one side and to come to the Yasinovataya crossroad from another side. The attack was repelled. There died six Ukrainian military and two DPR defenders.
On May 28 the territory under Donetsk republic’s control was shelled from Kiev’s controlled side two hundred thirty-seven times, as Donetsk officials reported. The next day the Ukrainian military shelled the territory of the Donetsk republic 475 times, reported on Monday the Vice-Commander of the DPR Defense Ministry operative command Donetsk Eduard Basurin and pointed out that ‘our intelligence intercepted orders of the command of the 16th separate motorised infantry battalion of the 58th separate motorised infantry brigade on preparation and application of the ‘Grad’ multiple launch rocket systems, and also large-caliber mortars against the territory of the DPR’.
On May 31 a group of US journalists was shelled from Ukrainian side. TV-group from the US mainstream media, PBS News, visited Zaitsevo village in Gorlovka on late Monday. There was documented the use of the white phosphorus shells by Ukrainian army, soldiers of Donetsk army were interviewed. The traces of phosphorus can be easily seen in the location of shell explosions. The use of white phosphorus shells against the civilian populated area is a violation of the international law. When the American journalists visited the Frontline positions on the outskirts of the village, the Ukrainian troops opened shelling and heavy firing with light weapons towards Donbas defense lines.
Zaitsevo has been under daily shelling from Kiev’s side although it has about 2000 civilian residents. They have been living without electricity and gas supplies for four months now.

Four civilians died and eight got wounded as a result of the shelling of the checkpoint Elenovka to the south of Donetsk by the Ukrainian military.
“The number of the dead civilians amounts to four people and eight people are wounded,” – pointed out Ruslan Yakubov, the Executive Officer of Corps of the Donetsk Defense Ministry, today at 8.30 according local time.
The pregnant girl was among killed people. “When the checkpoint was under the Ukrainian fire, the girl was inside a car, received a lot of missile wounds and she was not able to survive.”
“The data on shelling the checkpoint in Elenovka have been already handed over to the Special Monitoring Mission OSCE,” – summed up Ruslan Yakubov. Although the midday passed the international observers have not appeared on the scene of the shelling in the locality of Elenovka yet. The head of Donetsk republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko has expressed his indignation with the bad work of the Special Monitoring Mission OSCE.
