More than 50, 000 people gathered in central Donetsk to pay last respect to the Donetsk Republic Hero, colonel Arsen Pavlov best known under his call sign Motorola, who was killed on October 16.
The farewell ceremony started at around 10 a.m. local time in the premises of Donetsk State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the coffin placed in the hall. The head of republic Alexander Zakharchenko and acting Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova paid their last tribute before the ceremony.
Police closed traffic on the city central Artyom street to allow the queue of people to say farewell to Pavlov (Motorola).
The funeral procession in memory of the Arsen Pavlov has stretched out for several kilometers. The correspondents estimate around 50 thousand people gathered to pay last tribute to the hero filling the central square and adjoining streets.
The coffin was moved from Donbass Opera premises as public chanted “May the Hero memory last forever”, and carried along the central Artem street with orchestra playing.
The column was headed by the fighters of the DPR Armed forces with Pavlov’s portrait, his awards and an orthodox cross in their hands. They were followed by a truck, the coffin with a body was placed on a gun carriage.
The ceremony shocked Ukrainian nationalists. They thought Pavlov Motorola was an ordinary criminal, but public opinion in Donetsk radically differs from their wrong picture formed by Ukrainian nationalist propaganda.

Ukrainian armed forces have broken the latest ceasefire-within-a-ceasefire in Donbass with shelling of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, reports the DPR envoy to the Minsk-2 ceasefire process, Denis Pushilin.

“We are forced to report a drastic deterioration of the situation in the south of the DPR. Despite the agreements signed in Minsk and the recent decisions on disengagement of forces and weapons withdrawal, the Ukrainian side renewed today its provocations towards DPR,” he said.

October 15: Russian citizen Andrei Sokolov came to the Dontesk People’s Republic (DPR) on December 4, 2014, where, in his own words, he had planned to engage in humanitarian aid. But on December 16, 2014, he mistakenly drove his car into a Ukrainian roadblock near Gorlovka, was formally arrested on December 29, and ended up in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) office in Mariupol. Sokolov was charged under Part. 1, Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance to a terrorist organization). Solokov’s lawyer, Valery Avzhenko, argued that there was insufficient evidence to convict Sokolov, and the evidence that existed had been obtained in violation of the rules and requirements of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
