WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested and taken into custody by the London’s Metropolitan police, just as WikiLeaks warned days ago was about to happen. Assange’s lawyer Jen Robinson reports that his arrest is related to an extradition request from the United States, which the British government has until now refused to admit exists.

Ukraine | The court acquitted the Ukrainian journalist suspected of state crimes

On March 27, the Shevchenko Court of Zaporozhye fully acquitted journalist Pavel Volkov, who spent more than a year in jail on charges of infringing on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The prosecutor asked for a journalist 15 years in prison. After a lengthy discussion, the panel of judges issued a final verdict in the Volkov case. The judges decided to fully acquit the journalist, thereby dropping the charges against him under Part 2 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine by a group of persons) and Art. 258-3 (another aiding terrorists).

A few days ago we wrote that the secret services searched the opposition Ukrainian journalist Vladimir Skachko. The journalist was shown suspicion of separatism, and on March 11 he had to appear for interrogation in the city of Kherson. Almost certainly he should have been arrested after interrogation. The case of the journalist received a wide response, and the OSCE mission in Ukraine took up its monitoring.

Ukraine | Kiev regime continues to harass opposition journalists

On March 5, the SBU officers searched the apartment of the Kiev-based journalist Vladimir Skachko. Skachko is known for his publications, which are oppositional to the current Ukrainian government, notes “Strana” web-site. In addition, he is a frequent guest of Russian talk shows.
