Ukraine | State security continues searches and arrests in Ukraine

A few days ago we wrote that the secret services searched the opposition Ukrainian journalist Vladimir Skachko. The journalist was shown suspicion of separatism, and on March 11 he had to appear for interrogation in the city of Kherson. Almost certainly he should have been arrested after interrogation. The case of the journalist received a wide response, and the OSCE mission in Ukraine took up its monitoring.

Saudi Arabia | CIA concludes Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman ordered Khashoggi murder

The CIA has concluded in an assessment that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul last month.

The US agency said it had collected multiple sources of intelligence indicating that the crown prince, known as MBS, issued the instructions for the killing, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

Saudi Arabia | Saudi journalist tortured to death in prison

Saudi journalist and writer Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Jasser has died after being tortured while in detention, the New Khaleej reported yesterday.

Reporting human rights sources, the news site said that Al-Jasser was arrested and tortured to death after Saudi authorities claimed he administered the Twitter account Kashkool, which disclosed rights violations committed by the Saudi authorities and royal family.

Ukraine | National Journalist League of Ukraine is concerned about the safety of its members

On November 1, the National Journalist League of Ukraine held public hearings on the physical safety of journalists and crimes against the media and their workers. The hearings were timed to coincide with the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.
