Malaysia | More than 1,000 protest at Myanmar embassy in Malaysia against Rohingya atrocities

By Naim Zulkifli
KUALA LUMPUR: Some 1,000 people held a demonstration on November 25 in front of the Myanmar embassy here to protest against atrocities against the country’s Rohingya Muslims. The group, comprising members of a coalition of 42 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Rohingya, held the demonstration after Friday prayers after walking 2.6km from the Tabung Haji mosque. They decried the escalating violence in Rakhine State in northern Myanmar, where a military crackdown since last month has reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 86 Rohingya. The participating organisations were Umno Youth, Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia, Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia and Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia. When they reached Jalan Madge, near the embassy, they were stopped by police. As emotions were running high, a group of men believed to be Rohingya tried to break through the police blockade, but this proved futile. City police chief Datuk Amar Singh said three Rohingya men and a Malaysian man were detained for investigations under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. “The Rohingya were arrested, as under the act, foreigners are prohibited from participating in any assembly, while the Malaysian man was arrested because he tried to provoke a situation.”

Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Mohd Yunos and four other representatives later sent a memorandum to the embassy urging the Myanmar government to put an end to the persecution of the Rohingya. “I am sad about what has happened there (Myanmar), where Muslims have been killed ruthlessly. On behalf of other participants today (yesterday), I urge the Malaysian government to sever diplomatic relations with the government of Myanmar,” he said.

USA | Troubling gaps in the new report of the MH-17 crash

By Robert Parry

The new accusation of Russian complicity in 2014 Malaysia Airlines shootdown was based on Ukrainian intelligence intercepts that were selectively interpreted while contrary information was ignored, writes Robert Parry.

The key conclusion of the Dutch-led criminal inquiry implicating Russia in the 2014 shootdown of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 relied heavily on cryptic telephone intercepts that were supplied by the Ukrainian intelligence service and were given incriminating meaning not clearly supported by the words.

Malaysia | Dutch probe : MH17 downed by launcher from Russia

Dutch-led criminal investigators said Wednesday they have solid evidence that a Malaysian jet was shot down by a Buk missile moved into eastern Ukraine from Russia. Wilbert Paulissen, head of the Central Crime Investigation department of the Dutch National Police, said communications intercepts showed that pro-Moscow rebels had called for deployment of the mobile surface-to-air weapon, and reported its arrival in rebel-controlled areas of eastern Ukraine. From that and other evidence collected by the Joint Investigation Team, “it may be concluded MH17 was shot down by a 9M38 missile launched by a Buk, brought in from the territory of the Russian Federation, and that after launch was subsequently returned to the Russian Federation,” Paulissen told a news conference. The conclusions were billed as results of a two-year Dutch-led criminal probe of the disaster that claimed 298 lives.

Elderberry bush against common US-Ukrainian position: MH 17 inquiry

A new project has been launched on YouTube. It is devoted to the Malaysian Boeing MH-17 crash in Donbas, Eastern Ukraine. This catastrophe took 300 lives in July 17. Western and Ukrainian media accused Russia and Donbas rebels in this crime, although there is no clear evidence of their guilt till now. From their sides Donbas rebels and Russia published various facts which prove Ukraine’s army guilt, but Western media continue to ignore them.
The new project aims “to take this case out of politics and conspiracy to the field of fact and deductive method”.
