The Head of the DPR Aleksandr Zakharchenko Was Assassinated in Central Donetsk

On August 31 during an explosion in the center of Donetsk the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko received a fatal wound.

Zakharchenko was in the “Separ” restaurant in the center of Donetsk at the time of the explosion, as a result of which he received wounds incompatible with life. The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic died from his wounds in the hospital that he was brought to after the explosion.

In addition, it became known that during the explosion the vice-chairman of Council of Ministers of the DPR Aleksandr Timofeev was wounded.

Aleksandr Zakharcheno was 42 years old. He headed the Donetsk People’s Republic since November 4th, 2014, survived several assassination attempts.

On September 2 the residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic said goodbye to Aleksandr Zakharchenko. About 120,000 people came to the farewell ceremony that took place in the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Solovyanenko.

Delegations from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and the Russian Federation attended the memorial service and observed a minute of silence in his memory. The Ministry of Income and Revenues the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Timofeev, who received a severe wound during the terrorist attack in the “Separ” cafe, also came to say goodbye to the head of the republic.

The minister assured in an interview that his condition steadily normalises and he will recover. According to him, he got off “lightly”. Timofeev said that attending the ceremony was difficult for him, trying to hold back his emotions.

Soon after political observer Vladimir Kornilov posted the photos from funeral on Facebook, he received a 30-day ban:

“And again I was banned on FB for posting about today’s farewell to Zakharchenko. And again for 30 days. So you can read me only on Twitter and VK.”

So it would appear that, according to Facebook’s “neutral” algorithm posting photos of the war criminal John McCain’s funeral will not result in a ban, but photos of Zakharchenko’s funeral – yes. Business as usual then…
