Accused of defending the constitution

On November 21, 2017 in the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda there were hearings on the case of three Lithuanian citizens – Giedrius Grabauskas, Žilvinas Razminas and Oleg Titarenko. In March 2015, they participated in a picket against the deployment of NATO troops in Lithuania. Picket passed in front of the US Embassy. Their requirements corresponded to the Lithuanian constitution, Article 137 of the constitution stipulates that the replacement of weapons of mass destruction and foreign military bases is prohibited on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania. But Lithuanian establishment recognized these actions as anti-state.
In the framework of this case searches were carried out in the apartments of eleven Lithuanian citizens. Computers, books, telephones, newspapers, documents, leaflets, cassettes and other things were seized there. As a result, the prosecutor’s office asked the court to sentence one of the defendants to 3.5 years on probation, the second to 90 days of arrest, and the third – to a fine of 3 thousand euro.
