The Ukrainian vice-prime minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko called Amnesty International an “agent of Kremlin’s influence” after it had published a statement on repressions towards people arrested for using Soviet symbols during the Victory Day celebrations.

USA | California may end ban on communists in government jobs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Being a communist would no longer be a fireable offense for California government employees under a bill passed Monday by the state Assembly.

Lawmakers narrowly approved the bill to repeal part of a law enacted during the Red Scare of the 1940s and ’50s when fear that communists were trying to infiltrate and overthrow the U.S. government was rampant. The bill now goes to the Senate.

France | Just one day after Emmanuel Macron’s election and Paris holds its first protest

Less than 24 hours after being elected the new president of France Emmanuel Macron faced his first street protests organised by trade unions.

The protest was organised under the name of the “Social Front” which had already staged protests before the second round to show their anger over the choice of candidates Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron.
