The United National Antiwar Coalition is an alliance of various US non-government organizations opposing US military policy all over the world. Since the year of 2016 the UNAC pays its attention to situation in Odessa and launched Odessa Solidarity Campaign. Odessa is well known city located now in Ukraine. After the coup d’état in Ukraine it became the field of clashes between extreme right Ukrainian nationalists and pro-federalist forces who opposed the coup and proposed to turn Ukraine in federal state. The central government put down protests leaning on fascists and has conducted oppression measures in Odessa till now.

In recently issued statement from the Odessa Solidarity Campaign the United National Antiwar Coalition is concerning an emergency situation in Odessa. According fresh information Kiev government has launched a general repression against families of the 46 progressives murdered on May 2, 2014, by a fascist-led mob at Odessa’s House of Trade Unions. The family members have been campaigning for an international investigation into the massacre, an effort that is being blocked by the Ukrainian government.

The UNAC’s statement describes the arrest of Alexander Kushnaryov, the father of one of the young man who died at the House of Trade Unions massacre. Immediately after him a second Odessan, retired Colonel Anatoly Slobodjanik, also has been arrested and is being imprisoned in Odessa. The 68-year-old Slobodjanik is seriously ill and it is feared that he may not survive his detention.

The Odessa Solidarity Campaign is urging concerned people around the world to contact the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C., to demand the immediate release of Alexander Kushnaryov and Anatoly Slobodjanik, the dropping of all charges against them and an end to the harassment and persecution of members and supporters of the Council of Mothers of May 2, the organization representing Odessans whose family members died in the massacre of May 2, 2014.
