Remarkable aggravation in Donbas

The Donetsk People’s Republic’s servicemen repelled the Ukrainian military’s attempt to break through the Republic’s defense line in vicinity of the Spartak industrial zone (north of Donetsk city) on January 10, the Vice-Commander of the Operational Command of the DPR Eduard Basurin said.

“Yesterday the Armed Forces of Ukraine command attempted to seize our positions in vicinity of Spartak (the village north of Donetsk city),” the Vice-Commander said.

The Donetsk republic units repelled the attack and stopped the enemy. According to Donetsk data, the losses of the AFU servicemen amounted to two dead and five wounded.

Ukrainian forces had also shelled Zaitsevo, Zorianovka and Shirokaya Balka villages. Ukrainian Forces at 18.45 after the infantry preparation attempted to capture the DPR positions in the industrial area by three groups less than 10 soldiers in each.

The DPR army divisions had to open the return fire with small arms. Reportedly two Ukrainian soldiers were killed, three injured.

The Donetsk Command stated a marked aggravation of the situation on the contact line in Donbas. The Ukrainian military opened fire at the Donetsk controlled territory more than 900 times over the past 24 hours, E.Basurin said.

Basurin specified that the enemy had launched twenty-four artillery-shells, eleven tank-shells, two hundred and sixty-nine mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm caliber and also five hundred and twenty-seven ammunitions with different types of grenade launchers on the Republic’s territory. Besides, infantry fighting vehicles and small arms were used as well.

The Vice-Commander noted that the AFU kept concentrating military hardware to the south front, it was detected near the villages Primorskoye and Starognatovka.

It should be specially underlined that contact group participants in Minsk 21 of December made a deal about the next ceasefire regime in Donbas. The deal implies limitless ceasefire from the midnight of December 24th, but the fire from Ukrainian positions won’t stop.
