USA | Lawmakers Introduce Bill Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons

US lawmakers introduced a bill in both houses of Congress Tuesday that would prevent the president from launching a nuclear first strike without a congressional declaration of war. A policy that was long debated — but never seriously pursued — during the Obama administration has now become anything other than abstract after the election of Donald Trump.

Poland | Ukraine: Bykivnia WWII graves vandalised

Graves at a WWII cemetery in Bykivnia, north-central Ukraine, where thousands of Polish officers are buried, were vandalised with red paint overnight.

The vandals also attempted to destroy the entrance to the Polish war cemetery, the director of the site told the PAP news agency.

A memorial plaque in Belgorod-Dnistrovsky, Odessa region, which was installed at the scene of the massacre of 600 Jews in WWII, was destroyed by unknown people in the night of the 18th of January.

According to media outlet “Akkerman”, the city department of national police initiated an investigation into the incident. Currently an inspection is being carried out to establish the reasons that caused the destruction of the monument.
