Journalists’ persecution

December 24 Ukrainian security services raided the famous Odessa journalist Grigory Kvasnyuk. Kvasnyuk opposes the regime in Kiev. State security accused Kvasnyuk of encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
This is not the first time that the Ukrainian special services persecute journalists.
22 December 34 MEP from 5 political factions and the 17 countries of the European Union reminded the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko persecution of Ruslan Kotsaba, a journalist from Western Ukraine. They sent a joint letter to Poroshenko.
Parliamentarians demand to release “immediately and unconditionally” Ruslan Kotsaba. The signatories stress that Ukraine, as a country aspiring to join the EU, is obliged to respect the right to freedom of expression as it is declared in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (2000).
“This right includes freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority regardless of frontiers” – say MEPs.
However, Kiev regime ignores all such appeals. It goes to Europe in its own way.
