India | India, Pakistan Foreign Secretaries to meet on January 15 to draw talks roadmap

The two secretaries will discuss modalities and other schedule-related aspects to carry forward the dialogue process.

The Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan will meet on January 15, 2016 in Islamabad to draw a roadmap to carry forward the engagement under the newly-announced Bilateral Comprehensive Dialogue.

South Korea | Korean Air heiress gets 1 year in jail

A Seoul court on Thursday sentenced Cho Hyun-ah, former vice president of Korean Air, to one year in prison for obstructing aviation safety by interfering with cabin crew members’ duties.
Cho, 40, caused a public uproar by forcing a cabin crew chief to disembark from a flight headed from New York to Seoul on Dec. 5 after he failed to follow the carrier’s protocol on serving macadamia nuts. The de facto heiress of the flag carrier was found to have ordered the taxiing plane to return to the gate.
The Seoul Seobu District Court acknowledged in its ruling the charges raised by the prosecution that Cho had violated a law banning passengers from pressuring crew members to deviate from the flight route.
Its verdict clarified that Cho should be held accountable for obstructing aviation safety by abusing her authority.

Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine lives in extreme conditions for half and month. The radical Ukrainian nationalists were not able to take full control of the key regional cities in passed local elections. In Dnepropetrovsk, opposition groups won a majority of seats in the city council, and in Krivoy Rog (second largest city) the opposition candidate won the mayoral election. Having failed in the elections a radical Ukrainian nationalists are trying to revise the results. To this end they have resorted to outright terror.
In Krivoy Rog intimidated elections officials were threatened and forced to declare the violations during the elections, and then the re-election of the mayor was called. To force the townspeople for voting the way they need, radical nationalists brought representatives of the fascist gangs who constantly hold a rally in the city center and provoke citizens to conflicts. In this regard, December 26, 2015, women’s organizations of Krivoy Rog called nationalists to “stop their gatherings” during New Year holidays in order not to spoil the holiday for residents of Krivoy Rog.
Meanwhile, in Dnepropetrovsk the fascists occupied the city council. They acted on the direct orders of the mayor of the city. The winner of the mayor election became Boris Filatov, associate of oligarch Kolomoisky, who took an active part in the creation of the Nazi battalions in the year 2014. Then these battalions were used to crush the rebellion in the Donbas. Now associate Kolomoisky applies them against unwanted him deputies.
The opposition members of the council refused to appoint people proposed by Filatov. Since the opposition has a majority in the city council, Filatov was in a bind. But he did not yield to the majority. December 21 fascists broke into city council hall and began to threaten the deputies. December 22 200 “Right Sector” fighters fully captured the city hall and do not give the deputies to enter the building. Fighting in Dnepropetrovsk region continues.
