Communist party of Greece questions the European Parliament on the arrest and detention of Ukrainian worker activist.

The MEP of the KKE, Kostas Papadakis, made the following specific reference in his question:

“On June 21 2017 the counter-intelligence agency of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrested Yevgeny Tichonovic Gavrilov, cadre of the organization “Workers’ Front” in the village of Orlifka (territorial district of Pokrovski, region of Donietsk) on the accusation of “terrorist activity”.This accusation was based on the reasoning that there were various books in his house, chiefly of a historical nature. On August 15 2017 the detention of Y. Gavrilov was extended for two months.

Athens, Greece – A cloud of tension hovered inside an Athens courtroom as an anxious crowd waited to hear the appeal verdict in the case of 34-year-old Tasos Theofilou, an anarcho-communist and novelist who has been in prison since 2012.
