Drought and conflict leave millions more hungry in 2017 – UN-backed report

Driven largely by climate disasters and conflict, levels of acute hunger surged in 2017, leaving some 124 million people across 51 countries facing hunger crises –11 million more than the previous year, according to a new United Nations report.

Maidan massacre: four years later

An unprecedented event took place in the European Parliament. On the margins of the ongoing EU summit, new investigative materials concerning the tragic incidents that took place in Maidan in 2014 were presented. In the coference uder the title „Maidan revolution 4 years later”, hosted by MEP Bill Etheridge, attended the representatives of many human rights organizations,  media and the European parliamentarians. There was present also the Scottish MEP David Coburn. Latvian MEP Miroslav Mitrofanov who showed special interest in presentation invited all the speakers to his office to discuss possible means of action.

UN slams Colombia for failing peace process, warns for international intervention

The United Nations on Friday bashed Colombia’s failures to carry out a peace process and warned for intervention of the International Criminal Court.

The international organization said it was “extremely concerned” over an increase in killing of social leaders in Colombia, and blamed disinterest and corruption for impeding peace in the country.
