Mikheil Saakashvili deported from Ukraine

On the afternoon of February 12, members of the Ukrainian special forces arrested Saakashvili, the leader of the Ukrainian party “Movement of New Forces”, former president of Georgia, in a restaurant in Kiev. According to the closest associate of Saakashvili David Sakvarelidze, the detention took place in the Suluguni restaurant in the Museum Lane of Kiev. According to Sakvarelidze, the special forces drove up on Volkswagen buses with license plates AA. They dragged Saakashvili down the stairs, then pushed him into the car at gunpoint and took him to an unknown destination.
The State security and the Prosecutor General’s Office said they were not involved in the detention of Saakashvili. The speaker of the National Police also stated that he has no information about the detention of the politician.
Meanwhile, Saakashvili got on an airplane to Warsaw. From Warsaw, Saakashvili contacted his supporters over the phone. He said that after his arrest he was blindfolded, taken for a long time through Kiev, then brought to the international airport Borispol and forced to put on a plane.
The Polish Border Guard Service confirmed Saakashvili’s arrival to Warsaw. According to its data, Saakashvili was in Poland legally under the readmission agreement.
The political career of the Georgian politician in Ukraine was completed for the second time.
